As part of my bachelor’s thesis in psychology at the University of Innsbruck, I am conducting a scientific study on the relationship between neurocognitive abilities and performance characteristics in pool billiards.
As a billiards instructor from Austria and a psychology student, I am particularly interested in understanding which cognitive abilities – such as spatial reasoning, mental rotation, movement anticipation, and intuitive physics – are associated with performance in pool billiards.
For this purpose, an online test has been developed and is conducted via LimeSurvey. Participation is voluntary and open to players of different performance levels, ranging from ambitious recreational players to league, tournament, and elite players.
The aim of the study is to contribute to a better scientific understanding of performance-relevant cognitive abilities in pool billiards. In the long term, the project may support the development of a scientifically grounded testing and diagnostic tool that could be useful for training, talent development, and individual performance support in cue sports.
I would be very grateful if you could share this study with your federation, clubs, players, coaches, national teams, or other relevant communication channels and encourage active participation. Broad participation across different countries and performance levels is especially important for the scientific value of the study.

The test should preferably be completed in one session and takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Participation is voluntary and can be discontinued at any time.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you very much for your support and for helping to advance scientific research in pool billiards.
